Coming June 26, 2010  -
East Central Indiana June Festival

As many of you know, our classmates have been investing in the future of Winchester. The Randolph Inn and Suites, The Winchester Cinema and the Randolph Grille are all in place due to the efforts of a group of citizens that include our classmates. Mayor Croyle continues to provide the progressive leadership our hometown needs to be a viable, thriving community into the future.

As we talked, it became clear that I could help and so was born:

We are an Indiana not-for-profit corporation and we have applied for our IRS designation as a 501c3 organization.

The Corporation is made up of current and former residents of Winchester and our mission is to use our talents and time to bring a focus to the East Central Area, and in particular, Randolph County and Winchester, through festivals and activities; to involve and preserve the community, showcase Indiana products, and raise funds for charity. We want to partner with corporations, small businesses, merchants and individuals throughout the community to accomplish this goal.

The name of our inaugural event is the East Central Indiana June Festival. It will be called June Fest for short. It will be held on June 26 on the Courthouse Square in Winchester.

This year the charities we have chosen are: The CFS Food Pantry and the Cancer Services of Randolph County. These two worthwhile charities serve a great need in the community. With each event we plan, we will choose a different charity throughout the East Central Indiana region and we hope to become a major contributor to these worthwhile causes.

Our secured venues for June Fest are:

COURTHOUSE CHILI CHALLENGE – COME AND BE JUDGED – CASI (CHILI APPRECIATION SOCIETY INTERNATIONAL) sanctioned event. Winners will receive points toward the national championship in Texas.

“In addition to the internationally sanctioned event we are inviting area amateur cooks to compete for best amateur chili, firehouse chili, ribs and desserts.

MANIFOLDS ON MAIN STREET - A classic car show that is anticipated to draw participation from Indiana and surrounding states.

REBEL RUN – a motorcycle fun run and bike show

BANDSTAND ON THE SQUARE – 50’s Sock Hop with live entertainment, dance and costume contest.

From 10:00 – 3:30 – The Junkyard Band – Ft. Wayne’s #1 50’s Band will play

We will have a DJ for band breaks and announcements.

ARTS ON THE SQUARE – Artisans displaying and selling their craft.

CHEERS! WINE AND CHEESE TASTING – Indiana winemakers, cheese makers, chocolatiers and other specialty products.
