One night,
Dave Reed and I were on our way back from one of our many trips
to Maid-Rite’s. While traveling along Greenville Pike we spotted
a small pig in the side ditch.
Dave looked
at me with that mischievous grin of his, and said “Let’s catch
that pig”.
“What will we
do with it?” I asked.
“Well, we’ll
go back to town and put it inside the Monument at the
Courthouse”, he answered.
He then
stopped the car and we began to chase that squealing little pig.
Many times we thought we had it, but as pigs do, it squirmed
away. All at once the fence row ended and the ditch opened
up into a yard. Not to be outdone by a pig, we continued
the chase. All of a sudden that little pig ran onto the
front porch of a house.
Dave and I
stopped. We then ran back to the car.
That
was pretty intelligent behavior for the pig.
